LiuGong Wheel Loaders — A Successful Addition To Australian Agriculture

LiuGong machinery is increasingly being used across a wide variety of Australian industries, in particular agriculture. Lewis Construction Equipment in Adelaide supply LiuGong wheel loaders to leading agricultural businesses such as Wanderribby Feedlot, based in Meningie, South Australia, a major beef supplier to Australian supermarkets and branded programmes.

One of the reasons that LiuGong wheel loaders are proving to be so popular in the Australian agricultural and construction sectors is because of their versatility, and this sees them being used in a wide variety of applications. LiuGong machines can be found at work in the mining industry, on large-scale construction projects, and in agriculture throughout the country.

Lewis Construction Equipment in Adelaide, one of Australia’s leading LiuGong dealers, are experts in the full range of LiuGong machinery and supply wheel loaders to a range of agricultural operators throughout Australia, including Wanderribby Feedlot at Meningie in South Australia.

Wanderribby Feedlot supplies leading Australian restaurants, supermarkets, and branded programmes such as Coorong Angus Beef and Certified Australian Angus Beef. It has a current capacity of 5000 head of cattle, and so effective waste management is one of its primary concerns.

This number of cattle produce a considerable amount of cow manure every day, and this needs to be removed from yards so that it can in turn be composted and used as a soil conditioner. Ron Nankivill, the General Manager at Wanderribby, has been using LiuGong wheel loaders to perform this task, and has found the machines highly effective and extremely reliable, particularly when loading and pushing manure in wet conditions.

Wanderribby are currently using two LiuGong machines supplied by Lewis Construction Equipment. They have been operating a 842III wheel loader for the last year, and have recently added a larger 856III wheel loader to their workforce. Both machines excel in the areas of efficiency, reliability, ease of maintenance and operator comfort, and this is why they perform so well in the Australian agricultural sector.

The LiuGong 842III wheel loader is powered by a 193hp Cummins engine and features a standard breakout force of 120 kN and standard dump clearance of 2,844 mm. It’s equipped with a ZF auto transmission with kick down for increased fuel efficiency and powershift for smooth gear changes. There is easy access to the engine, making routine maintenance tasks simple to accomplish, and the wet disc braking system and axle are maintenance free. The 842III is comfortable to operate for extended periods of time as it has an adjustable steering column and seat, and the gear shift and attachments are operated from a single FNR joystick. Safety is likewise a priority, and the cab provides 360˚ visibility and features FOPS and ROPS.

The larger LiuGong 856III features a 220hp Cummins engine that is low on fuel consumption and which meets tier 3 emission requirements. The ZF auto transmission is extremely reliable and the torque converter matches the engine efficiently. The 856III comes equipped with a 3m3 bucket and has a standard dump clearance of 3100mm, with boom kick-out and return to carry, which increases its efficiency when being used for repetitive loading tasks. As is the case with all LiuGong machines, maintenance is straightforward and the fault diagnostic system provides quick and accurate maintenance support. Operator comfort and safety are is to the fore in the design of the 856III, and its FOPS/ROPS cab features a rearview camera and is pressurised to reduce noise.
